Tackling rising homelessness: Insights from our 2024-25 Report
We proud to share our 2024–25 Impact Report, which highlights both the growing challenges of homelessness in Swindon and the impact we’ve been able to make alongside our partners and supporters.
Although this year’s report has been published a little later than planned, it offers an important opportunity to reflect on the realities facing our community and the difference our work continues to make.
Rising Demand in Swindon
In 2024, homelessness in Swindon rose by 25% — almost double the national increase of 14%. The need for safe, stable housing has never been greater.
To meet this demand, we increased the number of available bed spaces by 10% in 2024-25. Even with this growth, we maintained a significant waiting list throughout the year. In total, we were able to provide housing for 68 clients, most of whom will stay with us for an average of two years.
Deepening Challenges
While more people are experiencing homelessness, the barriers to independent living are also becoming harder to overcome. Many of our clients faced:
- Rising living costs
- A shortage of affordable housing
- Poverty and homelessness linked to migrant or refugee status
Achievements worth celebrating
Despite these obstacles, our clients accomplished a great deal in 2024–25. From family re-unification to learning to drive to entering education, training and employment.
You can explore these stories and more in our 2024–25 Impact Report.
