Ehsan’s Story

Separated from his brother after arriving in the UK from Afghanistan, Ehsan faced an uncertain new chapter while waiting for his asylum application to be decided. With the right support, he found safety and stability, secured a job alongside his brother, and is now looking ahead to a future together in Manchester—with his sights set on becoming an electrician.

This chapter in Ehsan’s story:

Ehsan and his brother came to the UK from Afghanistan in 2026. Despite entering the country together, the two brothers were then placed in different parts of the country while waiting for their asylum applications to be processed.

In the summer of 2026, Ehsan's application was successful and he then needed to find alternative accommodation. Thankfully, Ehsan was already regularly attending a local day center for additional support, and they were able to signpost him to First Choice Housing.

When we spoke to him in September 2026 he said, 'my experience was really good [First Choice Housing] found me a roof over my head and I felt safe, cared for and supported.'

Ehsan's brother, who lives in Home Office accommodation in Manchester, recently received a positive outcome on his asylum application.

Ehsan tells us that as a result of this fantastic news:

“I am relocating to Manchester to live with my brother as we have both found employment in a Greek restaurant working 40 hours a week which allows us to privately rent a flat.”

Ehsan leaves us with an enduring ambition to become an electrician.
